Things I Like – Kaz, Stash Tea, Verbatim
In a new feature that I hope will become a weekly fixture on the site, I present “Things I Like”. Each week I will pick out one, if not several things that have come across my radar that I like. I am not a shill for anyone (like they would pay me…), I just want to pass along things that I have had a good experience with. I am not afraid to blast a company, as you can see in my Seagate posts, so this column will always be an honest reflection of something I like, hence the name.
Since this is the first post of this fashion, I have decided to highlight 3 things that I like:

Who is Kaz you ask? Good question. They are a subsidiary of Honeywell (from what I can figure out) and they make humidifiers among other household items. A few weeks ago, my humidifier tank’s handle came off while the tank was full, and sent it crashing to the floor in spectacular, wet fashion.
Like most people, I never filled out the registration form, nor was I able to find the receipt. There is a 3-year warranty on the unit, so I figured it would not hurt to call them and see if they would replace the part. Lo and behold after about 2 minutes on the phone, the CSR on the other end had a new tank on the way, no questions asked. In my book, Kaz represents a rare shining star in customer service.

As in Stash Tea. I like tea, but the stuff in the office gets old after awhile, and I can’t drink coffee all day lest my heart explode at some point, so I branch out now and again. Stash Tea is the Newegg of teas – you can pretty much find anything and everything you are looking for there. I picked up the Green & White tea sampler, which is excellent, but if that is not your style, there are tons of different options to choose from. You can find fruit tisane samplers, other themed packs, as well as single flavor loose and bagged teas from assam to lapsang souchong. Give it a shot, you will be glad you did.

Verbatim DVD+R DL discs. What’s not to love? Huge capacity, great quality, and a reasonable price tag. MicroCenter frequently sells them for $24.99 per 20-disc spindle, which is a really good price. You have to find them on sale though, otherwise they can be a bit expensive. If searching for sales isn’t your thing, they can be had in packs of 50 at Sam’s Club for just around $1.20 apiece. Don’t forget to check for the “Made in Singapore” label near the UPC symbol to ensure the best quality. Rumors have it there are Verbatims being pressed in India that don’t quite stack up to their reputation.
That’s it for this week’s “Things I like!”
